I had gotten home and stayed in the car another half hour just to listen to the rest of it. if you get the chance to listen to the broadcast Townhall with Jerry West please do so, if you are an athlete or the parent of an athlete or a coach please listen you’ll find something there for you.
He said in his new book he speaks candidly and opens up about his career also about his childhood. He shares stories of playing with the greats Elgin Baylor and Wilt Chamberlain, playing against Bill Russell and those Great Celtic teams he talks about coaching and being a general manager. The conversation between he and James were there and the audience was just wonderful and touching. He talked about was growing up poor in West Virginia the racial strife that he experienced as a player in the NBA he talked about wanting to make change and learning and just being a human being and one of things of got to me most was when he talked about how he has dealt with depression lifelong depression.
